According to posts on Reddit and social media, anti-ICE protesters plan to rally January 9 at the Colorado State Capitol’s west steps and lawn, located at the intersection of Lincoln and Colfax Avenues. Immigration activist (and recent ICE detainee) Jeanette Vizguerra will participate and speak at the gathering, according to organizers.

Several people said they came out for the same reason, describing a mix of sadness, anger and emotional exhaustion. For Patrice Rogers, the breaking point came Wednesday, when a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer fatally shot 37-year-old Renee Good in Minneapolis.

Organizers said they hoped for the protest to be peaceful and for "participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontations."
