China began the sea trial of its third and most advanced aircraft carrier on May 1. Fujian, entirely designed and built domestically, features a full-length, flat flight deck. The Fujian is larger than its predecessors, which will enable it to support a more robust airwing. For the first time in the Chinese navy, the Fujian features an EMALS catapult system that will enable it to launch heavier and larger fixed-wing aircraft.
