Eleven years of old ranch house living and drafty walls you could see through and spiders and sharing spaces and one bathroom… they don’t take a single inch of their new house for granted! … and yes most of the time I still find them piled on one bed or all sleeping on that couch together. ☺️ #fivemarys #fivemarysbuildsahouse 🏠 ♥️ | Five Marys

We’ve been using our red light therapy here on the ranch for both people and horses since last Christmas and it’s been a total game changer for health and wellness for ALL of us! Red and near-infrared light therapy helps boost circulation, reduce inflammation, speed recovery, and ease soreness… whether it’s after a long day in the saddle or a hard day’s work around the ranch. It’s amazing for muscle recovery, joint health, skin rejuvenation, and even better sleep. Our horses love it too. It’s gr

We love our life on the ranch and the beautiful place we live in Siskiyou County - but we are all very happy to be living in the sunshine state for the cold, foggy, winter months this year! ☀️ Those Carhartt “blueberry suits” are hanging in the mudroom patiently waiting our return. And the horses keep us busy here with the same daily chores, cleaning pens, feeding roping cattle and hosting visitors in the RV park. It’s a whole new adventure until we head back in March! @m5hiddenhacienda @carhart

Some of God’s greatest gifts… are unanswered prayers. ✨ 🙏 We hoped to build a home on the ranch a year or so after we moved here 11 years ago, but we had to put our resources into building our family business first and it just wasn’t possible. We did our best to make the tiny cabin work for our family of six for a year… and that turned into seven years in the little house and four more years in the old bunkhouse. It wasn’t easy living but the stories the girls can tell and the memories made as

The days are long but those years are short! From rough and tumble little ranch girls in tiaras and binkies and mismatched cowboy boots to beautiful young ladies dressed up for a night out together. I’m so thankful for their friendship - four baby girls in less than five years meant for busy toddler days. But the teenage years have been so entertaining and so much fun. Brian and I always tell them the only constants in your life will be your sisters… and they know it! ♥️♥️♥️♥️ | Five Marys

The Doggy Room! ✨ I tackled this project this afternoon for our little rodeo doggies using stuff I found around the ranch and spent zero dollars besides the waterproof flooring tiles I put in a few weeks ago. I went with a “guard dog” theme :) but the big livestock guardian dogs sleep outside. These little two, Scoosy and Gilly, have been loving the freedom of being outside most of the time now that we aren’t right on the road in the new house, but as the weather is getting colder at night they

Her California native farming and ranching ancestors (6 generations behind her!) would be proud of Francie for this interview - and how well she lives it everyday too. 😊 Brian and I are both proud Californians and our girls are 7th generation - back before the Gold Rush days! California was built on agriculture and we are proud to live and ranch in this beautiful place, carrying on the legacy of the farmers and ranchers who came before us. CA Grown reached out about interviewing us for this fea

We love the Rocco fridge in our guest room at the new ranch house - it’s so cute but also really nice in a small space because it’s so quiet… and I never thought I’d say a mini fridge is beautiful but it’s gorgeous! We stocked it up for grandparents and guests - we will be hosting a double family thanksgiving in the new house this year and want to be ready for our favorite visitors for a week of ranch life! 💚 #fivemarys #fivemarysbuildahouse #roccofridge | Five Marys

Last Monday was a day on the ranch we’ll always remember - my sister brought her @yearlycompany team for an epic ranch shoot with @_benchristensen with our whole family, even my parents! it was such a whirlwind. I’m just now getting to make this real of all the memories of that day. It was also literally the first day we moved into our new house. (and let’s not talk about how I overflowed the kitchen sink into the brand new kitchen right as everyone was arriving here!) Ben and his team capture p

I need to do a post (or a documentary-series :) on how this rodeo camp has turned into a welcoming home for an army of teenagers… and their horses! But they are all such great kids and I’m trying to document the memories and stories (oh the stories!) while we are here for three months. This @campsnapcamera vintage camcorder has been a fun spin on documenting our days! It’s super easy to use like the old ones but the clips transfer right to your phone to edit and save. They gave me a code FIVEMAR

That was a close one!! 😅 Heifer (first time momma cow) with a big calf… late in calving season but we got her in and pulled a healthy calf. It was up and nursing soon after! And finally got its tongue back in its mouth 😛 and Brian did most of the pulling from the squeeze so my favorite sweatshirt was no worse for the wear. I wouldn’t have minded… besides the fact we always put livestock first - with today’s cattle prices that live calf is worth a whole lot more than the sweatshirt!! #fivemarys

I loved those years, even with a little (ok, some cold winter nights a LOT) of longing to build a ranch house. Some nights my mattress would freeze (don’t buy a gel topper mattress if you live without consistent heat and zero insulation) and if we came home from a rodeo Brian would sometimes make us wait in the warm truck for hours while he warmed up the near freezing house. The spider webs were next level - sometimes new ones would appear from my pillow to my headboard in the same day. You coul

♥️ and I love it so much! Brian (and the girls on one long hike up the mountain) collected all the rocks on our ranch over a couple of weeks and brought them down to the house where we laid them all out in piles by shape. When it came time to rock, we couldn’t find a stone mason - sadly our faithful friend and customer who spent most afternoons having a Miller Lite and opening the door for every customer at Five Marys Burgerhouse and was a retired mason was going to help me do this and died sudd

Good thing I have thick skin! Ranch life requires a different kind of house build, and most of you are here for it… But had to share some of the funny comments from those who definitely are not! 🤭 | Five Marys
