Joe Higgs, the “Father of Reggae,” originally wrote “Steppin’ Razor” for Jamaica’s 1967 Festival Song Contest. But years later, Peter Tosh recorded the track and claimed it as his own. Higgs filed a legal claim and eventually won back authorship, setting a key precedent in Jamaican music history. Still, Higgs saw little to no profit from the song’s international success,a reminder of how often reggae pioneers are erased from their own work. #JoeHiggs #SteppinRazor #PeterTosh #ReggaeJustice #Musi
